Devastating Blaze Destroys Gothenburg Livestock Market

A late Monday afternoon fire destroyed the Gothenburg Livestock facilities.

The alarm was sounded just after 4:30 p.m. Within minutes, members of the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department responded. Cozad firemen provided mutual aid shortly afterwards.

Ryan Sylvester, a Nebraska State Fire Marshall’s office representative, quickly responded to the scene, located in the 800 block of I Avenue. The exact cause of the fire has not been determined and the investigation continues.?The structure was a total loss.

Fortunately, no injuries or loss of livestock resulted.
